The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business revenue and expanding Budget Mobile Bodyshop's presence within the B2B commercial fleet and vehicle sector. The role combines strategic outbound sales activity with ongoing account management, requiring a candidate who is equally skilled at opening new relationships and deepening existing ones. A solid understanding of the HGV and LCV market is essential, with candidates expected to bring relevant sector experience and an appreciation of the operational demands fleet operators face. This is a field and office based position requiring significant proactive outreach, in person engagement and consultative selling. The successful candidate will be expected to build and manage their own pipeline from day one, leveraging an existing industry network alongside targeted prospecting activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales & Business Development
    • Identify, target and engage new B2B prospects within the commercial fleet, leasing and contract hire sectors
    • Develop and execute a structured prospecting and outreach strategy, including cold calling, networking and direct approaches
    • Deliver professional, consultative sales presentations to key decision makers, both in person and remotely
    • Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline, tracking all activity and progressing leads systematically
    • Analyse market trends, competitor activity and opportunity gaps to inform sales strategy
  • Account Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all business clients
    • Manage the full sales lifecycle from initial contact and proposal through to delivery and post sale review
    • Build and maintain executive level relationships with key accounts, ensuring long term retention and growth
    • Develop commercial partnerships that deliver mutual value and support account expansion
    • Identify up selling and cross selling opportunities within the existing client base
  • Performance & Reporting
    • Achieve agreed sales targets across volume, revenue and margin objectives
    • Meet and exceed KPIs relating to prospecting activity, conversion rates and customer retention
    • Provide regular reporting to senior management on pipeline status, performance and market insight
    • Maintain accurate records of all client interactions and sales activity
  • Internal Collaboration
    • Work closely with internal operations teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and service delivery
    • Feed market intelligence back into the business to support service development and pricing decisions
    • Contribute to the development of sales materials, proposals and presentations

Person Specification

  • Proven track record in B2B sales or account management, ideally within commercial fleet, HGV and LCV, vehicle leasing or contract hire
  • Demonstrable experience of generating new business through outbound prospecting and cold calling
  • Strong in person presentation and pitching skills with the ability to engage at senior decision maker level
  • Existing network of relevant industry contacts, particularly within fleet management and leasing organisations
  • Commercially astute, with a clear understanding of margin, profitability and cost drivers
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently and manage pipeline effectively
  • Confident communicator, written and verbal, across all levels of a business
  • Full valid UK driving licence
  • Experience working in fleet management, contract hire or leasing, ideally with exposure to businesses operating HGV or LCV commercial vehicle fleets
  • Knowledge of how fleet procurement and vehicle management decisions are made within larger organisations
  • Bodyshop experience is not necessary
