Back Office Manager – Budget Energy NI
Reporting to the Head of Customer Operations, the Back Office Manager will be responsible for overseeing core operational support functions, including processing, administration, billing and credit control oversight. This role plays a key part in ensuring operational continuity, strong performance against KPIs and smooth collaboration across internal teams, including Finance, Sales, Regulation, and the Contact Centre. The role will be based in our Budget Energy offices in Derry.
Main areas of responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Operational Oversight: Manage daily back‑office operations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of administrative, billing and processing functions.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Act as a central point of coordination across departments: Finance, Sales, Regulatory/Compliance Teams, Front Office / Contact Centre.
- Billing & Credit Control: Oversee accurate billing cycles and support credit control through proactive communication with Finance, helping reduce aged debt and resolve billing queries.
- KPI Monitoring & Reporting: Track operational performance against service standards and KPIs. Provide updates to senior management with analysis and improvement plans as needed.
- Process Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Ensure operational processes are clearly documented and followed. Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and quality.
- Compliance & Risk Awareness: Ensure back‑office operations are conducted in line with internal controls, audit requirements and industry regulations.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an internal candidate who demonstrates a strong customer‑first mindset, a proactive and positive approach to problem‑solving, and the potential to lead and inspire others. You should have a solid understanding of our back‑office environment, with experience in either customer service, sales, or both. Strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively across teams, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential. Previous leadership experience is preferred; you should show initiative, accountability, and a genuine interest in developing your people and management skills. An awareness of compliance standards and a focus on delivering consistent, high‑quality service across all customer interactions will be key to success in this role.
