BRHC is seeking a school-based clinician to provide direct treatment services to students and their families as part of an established school-based services initiative. The clinician will be joining an 8 member licensed, interdisciplinary behavioral health team working in a rural health center setting with locations in both Bucksport and Ellsworth, Maine. This opportunity allows for diversity and/or specialization in the provision of services to all grade levels in our local community school district.
The ideal candidate will provide mental health, substance use disorder, and wellness services and become a part of programs that foster social skills and appropriate behaviour. The job calls for developing and implementing treatment plans, providing clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment and occasional crisis management. They will be both school office-based and integrated into a primary care setting working closely with a team of behavioral health professionals and medical practitioners. Flexibility of schedule includes: the possibility of a schedule modified to match school year September to June Schedule: Monday β Friday school hours with the potential for planned after school or evening hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides outpatient therapy addressing behaviour health issues from mental health to substance abuse for patients across the lifespan.
- Documents patient treatments via EMR computer software.
- Obtains/creates patient's psychosocial history.
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical and chronically ill patients.
- Provides clinical consultation to medical staff relative to patient Behavioral Health issues.
- Maintains clinical availability to deliver solution-focused and relationship-based therapy to the population.
- Has the clinical ability to address family and relationship issues as adjunctive to patient care.
- Understands and observes the necessary boundaries of their role.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
- Facilitates the patientβs transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring and discharging patients.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Documents care provided in the electronic health record of the patients cared for.
- Ensures efficient, smooth and prompt delivery of health care services.

Noise level is usually quiet. Potential exposure to hazardous and infectious materials, including blood borne pathogens. The Behavioral Health practitioners will practice in the community including home visits, school and other social environments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION NEEDED FOR POSITION:
Experience and Skill Requirements: At least three years of experience in social work or counseling preferred. Experience in assessing and treating substance abuse and dependency preferred. Listening/comprehension skills, ability to understand patient's voices and unidentified challenges. Ability to process a variety of information to appropriately diagnose and treat patient's psychiatric symptomology. Ability to provide case formulation and develop focused, goal-oriented treatment plans related to patient's treatment readiness or developmental level and problem identification. Ability to collaborate, make appropriate referrals and interface with numerous other professionals, maintaining professional boundaries and patient advocacy. Computer experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software products required. Ability to provide services to individuals and families with patients of any age group.
Education Requirements: Master's Degree in social work or counseling, or doctorate in psychology, required. Licensed practitioner in the State of Maine; maintaining licensing requirements strongly preferred or candidate with conditional license may be considered. LMFT, LMSW, LCPC may be considered.
