Join Our Mission at Buckinghamshire Mind! Are you an organised and personable individual with a passion for supporting a meaningful cause? Buckinghamshire Mind is looking for a Safe Haven Team Lead to supervise and support a small team of Mental Health Crisis Support Workers within our Safe Haven Service: our out-of-hours support service for those experiencing a mental health crisis.

Contract Type: Permanent role

Location: Aylesbury – with occasional travel required to High Wycombe.

Salary: £29,795 FTE plus enhanced hours payment of 30% on top of normal hourly rate for hours worked between 11pm-12am. This calculates as an actual payment of £21,893.83 including the enhanced hours based on the hours below.

Hours: 22hrs – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 6pm – 12am, and 4 hrs admin time preferably on a Tuesday morning (26 total hours).

Buckinghamshire Mind is an independent charity providing trusted mental health services to our communities. We are affiliated with national Mind and are part of a network of over 100 Local Minds. We promote wellbeing and recovery; we prevent mental ill health; we offer talking therapies and we provide support in times of crisis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide vision and high-quality line management, support, and supervision to the staff team, in addition to working collaboratively as part of the Buckinghamshire Mind Operational Management Team.
  • To provide a warm and welcoming environment for those people facing out-of-hours mental health crises as a calming alternative to emergency departments.
  • To raise service user awareness of alternative mental health services appropriate to personal need and increase the independence and self-management skills of those people accessing the service.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven ability to lead, support, supervise, and motivate staff; manage workload effectively; work collaboratively while taking initiative and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively to emotional crises, high-risk situations, de-escalation, safety planning, and suicide prevention.
  • Skilled in supporting people with mental health difficulties to build independence, develop self-management strategies, and make positive change, with a consistently respectful and hopeful attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver high-quality services and build positive, constructive relationships with external agencies and partners.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; commitment to confidentiality, equal opportunities, diversity, and alignment with the aims and values of Buckinghamshire Mind.
