Job Description

Ready to build, improve and lead a growing billing function?

Our client, a successful and expanding private healthcare organisation, is seeking a Billing Manager to join and manage a small team. This is a brand new and exciting role for an experienced billing professional who enjoys being hands-on, leading by example and driving process improvement.

As our client expands, they're looking to centralise their billing function - in the first few years, the successful candidate will learn how healthcare billing works, billing alongside the team, owning credit control, and turning how they bill into clear, repeatable processes they can roll out across new sites.

As the team and the number of clinics grow, the role grows with it - moving from hands-on billing towards leading and developing a larger team.

Private healthcare billing experience isn't essential - you'll learn the technical side from experienced colleagues. We are looking for someone with solid billing experience, the appetite and aptitude to lead people, and the instinct to improve and systematise how things are done.

An interest in AI and automation is also desirable.

Billing & Credit Control

  • Work alongside the team to ensure accurate and timely billing for insured and self-pay patients.
  • Take ownership of credit control activities across the Reading clinics.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of insurer billing processes and tariff structures.
  • Support the team with billing queries and escalated issues.

Process Improvement & Systems Development

  • Document and standardise billing procedures to create consistent processes across multiple sites.
  • Drive continuous improvements and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
  • Develop and enhance the use of the Semble patient management system to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement scalable billing processes to support the organisation's continued expansion.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Billing and Finance Assistants.
  • Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and training sessions.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive and high-performing team culture.
  • As the business grows, take on increasing management responsibility and help shape the future structure of the billing function.

Supporting Business Growth

  • Assist with the implementation of billing processes for new clinic locations.
  • Work closely with Finance, Clinical and Operational teams to ensure all activity is captured and billed correctly.
  • Build effective relationships with insurers and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to wider business initiatives focused on operational efficiency and growth.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven billing experience, regardless of sector.
  • Previous people management experience or a genuine aptitude and desire to lead a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and web-based systems.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to remain calm, professional and solutions-focused under pressure.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to change and growth.

What's on Offer?

  • The opportunity to join a growing healthcare organisation during an exciting period of expansion.
  • A genuine opportunity to shape and develop a centralised billing function.
  • Long-term career progression into a broader leadership role.
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • A varied and rewarding role where you can make a visible impact.

Please note that we will only contact those candidates that we assess as suitable for the positions we have currently available based on their experience, training, and skills. If we do not have anything suitable, we will not keep your CV for more than 30 days.
