Family Lawyer role:
We are excited to be recruiting for an experienced Family Lawyer to join the team. Ideally the successful candidate will be base in Peterborough, but other offices will be considered. Please note some travel and out of hours working will be required for business development, meetings and training purpose.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of divorce and high net worth financial remedy proceedings, and experience of undertaking interesting Children Act work. Experience in TOLATA and preventive work would also be helpful but not essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing and innovative Family Law team.
Responsibilities of a Family Team Lawyer:
• Reporting to the Partners in the department to assist with driving forward a caseload of all elements of family law, including high net worth financial remedy negotiations and proceedings, Children Act work and preventative work. In addition, elements of international law, injunctive proceedings and TOLATA cases. Specialisation is encouraged.
• An integral part of the Family team, delivering on agreed cases, sourcing new opportunities and supporting the overall profile of the team.
• Proactively attracting work according to the needs of the firm.
• Delivery of individual targets with minimal supervision.
• Ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and building appropriate relationships with clients.
• Adherence to agreed quality procedures and management systems.
• Undertake and deliver work in a commercially effective manner.
• Supporting and supervising more junior members of the team depending on the successful candidate’s own PQE.
• Development of technical and non-technical skills to meet client and firm requirements and demonstrate continuous improvement in all areas of work.
Skills and experience of a senior Family Lawyer:
• Relevant Professional Qualification
• Strong legal skills and knowledge in a Family Law setting.
• Responsible for a broad and varied caseload including pre-nuptial agreements, Children Act proceedings, divorce, high net worth financial remedy proceedings, international cases, TOLATA proceedings and Injunctive relief. An area of specialisation is encouraged and will be discussed further at interview stage.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels, both in writing and verbally.
• You will be proactive and passionate about your career.
• Proven results in supporting business development across a team or firm.
• Working knowledge of case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• A strong team player with a motivational hands-on approach.
• Uses initiative, plans and organises own time and workload to meet deadlines and prioritises work.
• A measured and rational approach to problem-solving.
• Deals confidently and diplomatically with clients and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrates integrity and congruence when dealing with people.
