Children\'s Librarian, Gleason Public Library (Carlisle)
Are you an energetic, community-focused children’s librarian who loves to program? The Gleason Public Library is searching for a full-time children’s librarian who will:
- Develop and lead programs for children (infants through 4th grade) and families, independently and in collaboration with the Teen Librarian
- Manage collection development for children\'s materials in all formats
- Lead other Children\\\'s Department activities and services such as outreach, reader\\\'s advisory, technology, and literacy support
- Create and maintain a warm, welcoming environment for children and their caregivers
Creativity, flexibility, team spirit, and a sense of humor are a must. Our Children’s Librarian represents the library throughout the community, and to schools, agencies and organizations that serve children. This position works closely with all team members, especially the Teen Librarian, and provides coverage of the adult reference desk during evening and weekend shifts. Full time (35 hrs/week), including one evening per week and every 4th Saturday. Additional evening and weekend hours sometimes required for programs and outreach.
Carlisle is a small residential town about 20 miles northwest of Boston. With a population around 5,400, Carlisle has a rural feel and strong community spirit. Gleason Public Library is well-supported and a center of activity in town.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school plus one year of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of reader’s advisory and children’s literature, related materials, child development, and appropriate techniques in working with children.
- Proven record of programming experience
- Excellent customer service, communication, and public relations skills.
