Job Purpose: Deliver a first‑class student experience and undertake impactful research and knowledge exchange activities in aviation and pilot training.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct effective research and scholarly activity, generate income, and align research with teaching.
- Collaborate with business and professional networks to promote teaching, learning, and research.
- Engage in doctoral supervision and early‑career research development.
- Produce refereed conference and peer‑reviewed outputs, and embed research within curriculum.
- Deliver research‑informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, focusing on pilot training, flight operations, and operational safety.
- Lead curriculum development, learner support, academic quality, and industry engagement.
- Provide tutoring, pastoral support, and placement/internship assistance to students.
- Secure external funding for educational projects and support commercial partnership initiatives.
- Accomplish inclusive teaching and learning practices, ensuring a welcoming environment for all learners.
- Contribute to income‑generation initiatives and business planning within the college.
- Attend professional bodies, conferences, and industry events for continuous professional development.
- Comply with legislation, health & safety, UKVI, and equality & diversity requirements.
Qualifications:
- First‑degree in a relevant field.
- Doctoral level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Current or previous professional pilot licence (e.g., ATPL, CPL, MPL).
- Recognised HE teaching qualification or Fellow by Advance HE.
- Expert knowledge in aviation operations, pilot training pathways, and safety.
- Track record of delivering quality learning and achieving excellent student outcomes.
- Evidence of active research, high‑quality publications, and conference presentations.
- Experience in securing external project funding or income generation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools and digital teaching platforms.
- Excellent presentation, teaching delivery, and customer service skills.
- Willingness to work in off‑site locations and across all university campuses.
