Responsibilities
- Work with other members of the maintenance team as part of a multi-function group covering all general items of maintenance.
- Demonstrate technical knowledge and competency regarding electrical and fault finding.
- Approach and resolve problems logically and effectively communicate with customers, staff, and students.
- Investigate defects, report, and correct them in a competent manner.
- Ensure economic and effective use of materials.
- Maintain compliance with relevant building services legislation.
- Assist the Estates team in carbon reduction, energy management, and monthly recording of water and energy use.
- Apply strong electrical and controls experience, including 3‑phase supply and equipment, to complete quality maintenance in non‑residential and residential student properties.
- Organise and monitor works through the maintenance system (Badger) and use the university‑issued mobile phone for job allocation and sign‑off.
- Comply with all legislative requirements (Data Protection, GDPR, Health & Safety, UKVI, Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
- Perform other related duties as reasonably required.
Qualifications and Experience
- City & Guilds 2382‑12 (NVQ Level 3) – Certificate of Training.
- City & Guilds 2394 and 2395 (Inspecting and Testing) or 2391 and 2395 – Certification.
- City & Guilds 2377‑22 / 2377 (Pat Testing) – Certification.
- Deliver an excellent customer experience and safe working practices.
- Proficiency in fault‑finding on AHU controls and practical repairs and maintenance.
- Digital proficiency and strong quality workmanship.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and apply a methodical, conscientious approach.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to read drawings.
- Availability to work shift/rota/on‑call/out‑of‑hours/weekend working.
