Job Title: Interim Quality Assurance Manager

Job Purpose
The postholder manages and provides leadership to their section of the Academic Registry, ensuring objectives are met and customer experience is excellent. They act as the institutional expert on quality assurance matters and actively contribute to the strategic development of the Academic Registry.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Development
- Assist with long‑term strategy for Quality Assurance, Regulations, Policy & Casework.
- Lead design, implementation and enhancement of key processes (External Examiner nominations, Programme Approval, Academic Integrity, Academic Appeals, and Programme setup).
- Monitor sector developments (OfS, QAA, OIA, FHEQ, PSRBs) and recommend strategic changes.
- Lead cross‑Registry and cross‑University projects.
Operational Management
- Accountable for operational planning across all functional areas.
- Set and monitor objectives for the team.
- Oversee delivery of high‑risk casework (academic integrity, appeals, fitness‑to‑practice).
- Ensure accurate and timely setup of academic programmes on the student management system.
Expert Advisory Responsibilities
- Provide authoritative advice on regulations, quality assurance and casework.
- Represent Academic Registry on committees, panels, Boards of Examiners and working groups.
- Engage in external networking and bring best practice into University processes.
- Lead training for academic and professional services colleagues.
People Leadership
- Line management responsibilities including recruitment, performance management, professional development and wellbeing.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
- Monitor service provision and act on feedback.
- Ensure compliance with legislative and statutory requirements (Data Protection, GDPR, OFS Conditions, Health & Safety, UK Visas, Equality & Diversity).
- Maintain auditable records and oversee FOI and data subject access requests.
- Evaluate project success and disseminate lessons learned.

- Degree or equivalent.
Knowledge & Experience

- Expert knowledge of UK Higher Education quality assurance policy.
