Responsible for: Business Analysis – Nexus

Job Purpose: The Business Analyst (Partners & Process) plays a critical role in the successful delivery of the Nexus Programme (the University’s Student Management System replacement). This role leads the structured analysis, standardisation, and redesign of partner‑related student lifecycle processes to ensure they are effectively implemented within the new SMS platform.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead structured analysis and process redesign across Partners and Process governance domains.
  • Translate business requirements into configuration‑ready documentation with full traceability.
  • Support data migration, integration validation, and reconciliation controls.
  • Contribute to structured testing cycles and implementation readiness.
  • Promote standardisation and challenge unnecessary customisation in line with adopt‑not‑adapt principles.

Compliance & General: Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices. Other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required.

Person Specification – Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification in Business Analysis, Project Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., BCS, Agile) or demonstrable experience.
  • Experience of business analysis across full project lifecycle in complex environments.
  • Experience working on enterprise system implementations.
  • Experience of partnership models, collaborative provision, or multi‑party operational environments.
  • Experience of regulatory or compliance‑driven operational environments.
  • Experience working with policy‑driven process variations or contract‑sensitive workflows.
  • Experience supporting SIT and UAT cycles.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to translate complex issues into clear actions.
  • Highly organised with ability to prioritise competing demands across multiple workstreams.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence diverse stakeholders and bring colleagues on the journey.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a high‑change environment with structured discipline.
