About the Role
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Visual Field Technician to join our Ophthalmology Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. This is a key clinical support role contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care through visual field assessments and ophthalmic diagnostics.
Main duties of the job
- Perform automated visual field tests using the Humphrey Field Analyser.
- Accurately assess spectacle prescriptions using automated focimetry.
- Clearly instruct and support patients throughout testing procedures.
- Enter results into the electronic patient notes system and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment and manage office supplies.
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
- Basic computer skills GCSE English or Equivalent
- To have knowledge of the anatomy of the eye, medical background in Ophthalmology.
- Knowledge of eye conditions and their appropriate treatment.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience of working in a Health care environment
- Experience of working with the general public
- Previous use of organisational skills
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers and to ensure records are kept accurately and in a legible manner
- Ability to communicate with staff and patients, this will include patients of varying mental and physical abilities and states of anxiety.

- Able to travel to other sites (including Buckingham Hospital) and off site as necessary
