Job overview

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to work at Buckingham Hospital providing assessment, acute rehabilitation and timely discharge for patients transferred from the acute hospitals.

Main duties of the job

This is a multi-skilled post requiring experience in acute medical discharge planning, neurology, amputees, falls and other pathologies.

You will work under the Band 7 Therapists, Band 6 Therapists and Band 3 clinical support workers, jointly with the patients, physiotherapists, nurses and community teams both on the ward and sometimes in the client’s home.

This post is part of a very friendly, supportive and dynamic Therapy department with integrated individual supervision, appraisal, CPD and in-service training.

Person specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • Current registration with Health Professions Council
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
  • Membership of a professional special interest group

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of a junior rotational Occupational Therapy post in the NHS
  • Knowledge of areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management
  • Experience of managing own caseload and prioritizing
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

  • Able to apply a range and depth of knowledge to the specialist clinical area of the post
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication
  • Ability to integrate and contribute as an effective team member

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

  • Able to fulfill the physical demands of the role
  • Ability to participate in weekend working
