Location: Thame Community Hospital, East Street, Thame, OX93JT. Date posted: 21 August 2025. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part-time, Job share, Flexible working. Salary: £31,049 to £37,796 per year pro rata. Band: Band 5.

Job summary: How would you like to work as part of a high performing Health Visiting Service in Buckinghamshire? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Visitor to join Crendon Health Visiting team.

Responsibilities

  • Bespoke training will provide support and ensure competencies within the role. Pro-active approach with good communication and interpersonal skills; understanding of the public health role within health visiting.
  • Induction programme provided to support transition into the community health visiting team.
  • Candidates do not require prior health visiting service experience but must have knowledge and understanding of current health visiting service and safeguarding practice.
  • Opportunity to apply for Health Visitor training for successful applicant.
  • Be able to drive between different community localities as required.

Essential qualifications

  • Registered Nurse / Awaiting NMC PIN

Skills, abilities & knowledge

  • Works to evidence-based practice; awareness of interagency collaboration
  • Computer skills; ability to identify families with complex health needs
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and negotiation ability
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own caseload with supervision; problem solving and initiative; ability to develop clinical skills

Desirable qualifications & experience

  • Leadership at the point of care or other leadership training
  • Staff appraisal training; CPD evidence
  • Post-qualification experience in relevant specialty; mentoring qualification
  • Experience of undertaking staff appraisals; participation in specialist projects
  • Willingness to develop teaching skills; knowledge of NHSE clinical governance guidance
  • Understanding of care planning, preceptorship, reflection and clinical supervision
  • Post-registration experience in acute hospital setting

Special circumstances

  • Able to travel to other sites and off-site as necessary
