At Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, prevention is at the heart of everything we do. As a Community Safety Advisor, you will work directly with residents across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, helping people to understand risk, stay safe in their homes and access the support that they need.
Location: Brigade Headquarters, Stocklake, Aylesbury, Bucks, HP20 1BD + Bucks Countywide Travel

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service serves a population of more than 800,000 in the Southeast of England. Around 400 Firefighters operate from 19 Fire Stations from the outskirts of London to the South Midlands. We employ around 100 specialist Support Staff, from ICT to Fire Prevention. This is a dynamic, public facing role, focused on reducing fire risk and supporting the most vulnerable members of our communities. In a role where no two days are the same, you will often work independently, visiting people in their homes and using your professional judgement to assess risk and determine the most appropriate actions.
- Deliver Home Fire Safety Visits and other prevention activities
- Work within a range of environments, including private homes, sheltered accommodation and supported living
- Identify fire risks and provide clear, practical advice to reduce those risks
- Install safety equipment such as smoke alarms
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, local authorities and partner agencies
- Support youth inclusion and early intervention programmes
- Able to assess risk and take appropriate actions
- Committed to making a meaningful difference in the community
- Accountable for the quality and accuracy of their work
Requirements:
- English and Maths GCSE at level 4 to 9 (grade C or above), or equivalent
- Experience of determining solutions to risks within people's homes
- Full UK Driving License
This is a mobile, public facing role which requires daily travel across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. The role may require occasional evening or weekend working.
