Around 400 Firefighters operate from 19 Fire Stations from the outskirts of London to the South Midlands. We employ around 100 specialist support staff, from ICT to Fire Prevention. About the Role
As the Risk and Business Continuity Officer, youll be at the heart of our resilience strategyensuring the Service is prepared for emergencies, major incidents, and operational disruptions. Youll lead the development and maintenance of our Business Continuity Management Framework, while also supporting the organisations approach to risk identification, mitigation, and assurance.
Key Duties:
- Develop, review, and maintain Business Continuity Plans across departments
- Lead regular testing and exercising of continuity plans, capturing lessons learned
- Support risk owners in identifying and managing risks
- Provide assurance reporting on risk and continuity to senior leadership
- Represent the Service at external forums, including the Local Resilience Forum
- Deliver training and awareness sessions on risk and continuity across the organisation
- Support compliance with relevant legislation and standards (e.g. Civil Contingencies Act 2004, ISO 22301, ISO 31000)
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Background in business continuity and/or risk management
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach
- Skills in developing and maintaining continuity plans
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable plans
- Experience in delivering training sessions
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices (e.g. Civil Contingencies Act 2004, ISO BC 22301, ISO 31000)
Experience & Qualifications Required
Experience:
- Experience in resilience planning, risk management and Business Continuity
- Experience in Quality Assurance
- Proven track record of producing clear and concise reports
- Experience in confidently delivering presentations and training sessions
Qualifications:
- Certificate in Business Continuity Management and/or Risk Management or a relevant professional qualification in a related discipline.
- Full, UK valid driving licence, as the role requires geographical mobility for multi-agency activities
