Salary: Β£30,622 per annum
Contract: 6 months Fixed Term
Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week. Some work occurs outside of standard working hours.

About Us: Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service serves a population of more than 800,000 in the Southeast of England. Around 400 firefighters operate from 19 fire stations from the outskirts of London to the South Midlands. We employ around 100 specialist support staff, from ICT to fire prevention. The nature of the role means that some events, filming and communications activity will take place outside standard working hours. You will therefore need to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends. A 15% salary uplift is attached to the role in recognition of this flexibility.

About the Role: As Marketing and Engagement Executive, you will help bring the work of Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service to life across our social media channels, website and intranet. The role will primarily focus on planning, creating and publishing engaging digital content. You will work with teams across the Service to uncover stories, encourage colleagues to take part and create content that connects with our communities.
You will be responsible for:
- Planning, creating, scheduling and publishing social media content across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and YouTube.
- Producing engaging photography and video content, from developing the initial idea through to filming and editing.
- Building relationships with colleagues and encouraging them to contribute to videos, photographs and other content.
- Writing clear and engaging blogs, news stories, website copy and intranet articles.
- Improving public-facing website content so it is accessible, relevant and written for the people who need to use it.
- Strengthening the use of local and station-based content to improve engagement with local communities.
- Improving coordination and oversight of local Facebook page administrators.
- Using emerging trends, recent incidents attended, and themes to create timely prevention and protection messages.
- Supporting wider marketing activity, events and communications during operational incidents when required.
- Planning, coordinating and delivering Service events, including managing practical arrangements and producing supporting content and communications.
- Communicating/ coordinating with partners and external organisations to produce joint messaging and campaigns.
- Travelling to fire stations and other locations across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes to gather content.
- Supporting communications during operational incidents by monitoring developments and helping to produce accurate, timely and appropriate public information.
- Creating engaging content while working within the professional, legal and reputational requirements of a public sector emergency service.
- Handling information, images and personal data appropriately, in line with GDPR, data protection requirements and Service policies.
About You: We are looking for someone who can be creative and have fun with content while understanding the responsibilities that come with communicating on behalf of a public sector emergency service. You will be someone who is:

- Trusted to handle sensitive information and recognise when content should not be shared.

- Willing to visit stations, attend events and get involved in different areas of Service activity.
- Audience-focused, with an understanding of how content needs to change across different channels, both internally for staff and externally for our communities.
- Politically aware and mindful of accessibility, inclusion, public confidence and organisational reputation.
- Comfortable working within brand, GDPR, data protection and safeguarding requirements without losing creativity.
- Able to produce reports and confidently discuss trends and guidance.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
- Digital marketing, social media related training or qualification, such as a Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience of planning, creating and publishing content across social media platforms.
- Strong photography and video production skills, including filming and editing.
- Experience using design and editing tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom.
- Excellent written communication skills, with experience of producing blogs, news articles, website copy or similar content.
- Experience of adapting content for different audiences and digital channels.
- Experience of developing creative ideas and working with others to turn them into effective content.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- The ability to exercise sound editorial judgement when producing content for a public sector or other trusted organisation.
- The ability to communicate accurately and appropriately during fast-moving, sensitive or high-profile situations.
- A full, valid UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- An understanding of GDPR, data protection and the responsible use of photographs, video and personal information.
- Experience of supporting emergency, crisis or incident communications.
- Experience of planning and managing events.
- Experience of creating content within a public sector, emergency service or similarly regulated organisation.
- Experience using marketing platforms such as email marketing and social media management e.g. Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Sendible.
- Experience using website management platforms such as WordPress.
