We are looking for an Executive Assistant to join our CEO Office team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to be part of an experienced team supporting our corporate management team including our Chief Executive, Assistant Chief Executive & Corporate Directors.

This is an exciting time to join us, as we develop the service. The CEO Office will support the varied work of this diverse authority and will play a vital role in helping the Council to achieve its strategic objectives through the provision of support to the Corporate Management Team (CMT). The team supports effective corporate decision-making processes as well as ensuring visibility and strategic oversight of activity across the landscape.

About the role

Our Executive Assistants work as part of a team to provide high quality, proactive and flexible executive support to the Corporate Management team and/or Members helping them to perform their roles. The Executive Assistants work closely with and act on behalf of members of the Corporate Management team or Members providing advice to colleagues and effective communication to internal and external partners. This role is likely to grow and develop over time, making it an excellent opportunity to progress in a local government career.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Providing executive support to corporate directors within the corporate management team
  • Using initiative to filter and attend to day-to-day tasks and decisions on behalf of the Corporate Director or Member(s) escalating issues where required
  • Looking ahead and anticipating the needs of those you are supporting
  • Problem-solving / escalating / developing materials as necessary
  • Working closely with all members of the CEO Office to deliver broader functions of the office
  • Working as a team and providing cover for other EAs and functions within the CEO Office

About you

  • Efficient and highly organised
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish good working relationships
  • Ability to interact with internal colleagues including senior management and external partners to build effective relationships.
  • Can deal with people at all levels confidently, sensitively and diplomatically.
  • Ability to be discrete and handle confidential information appropriately
  • Ability to research and assemble information and prepare draft briefing papers / correspondence.
  • Ability to collate and organise data / information efficiently.

Other information

This is a full-time permanent post working 37 hours per week and will be part of a rota to provide cover for the CEO office Mon-Fri 8 am to 6pm. Due to the nature of the work, this role is based at our Gateway Offices in Aylesbury and the successful candidate will be required to work in the office a minimum of 4 days a week. There is free parking on site, with modern facilities and a café. We are keen to build a strong, coherent, responsive team, enabling a supportive and collaborative culture.
