Buckingham Home Care is entering a new chapter. A planned leadership transition, a renewed focus on quality, and a clear ambition to grow. We're looking for a Registered Manager who wants to help shape what comes next, not just keep the seat warm. If you're already comfortable where you are but quietly wondering what you could build with more autonomy and a direct line to the Director, read on.
The opportunity
You'll take on a service that needs a leader capable of doing two things at once: protecting and strengthening CQC compliance, and driving the commercial growth of the business. We don't see these as competing demands we see them as the same job. You'll have real influence over systems, culture and direction, direct access to the Director, and the scope to build and develop your own team.
About Buckingham Home Care
We're a CQC-regulated domiciliary care provider currently delivering approximately 600 hours of care per week, with an established local presence and existing commissioner relationships. We're investing in leadership, quality and growth together, with a clearly structured support and performance framework for whoever takes on this role.
You won't be doing this alone
Too many Registered Managers end up as compliance officers, schedulers, HR department, complaints handler and business developer all at once which is how good people burn out. That's not how this role is set up. You'll have a dedicated team managing rotas, compliance, service delivery and day-to-day admin, your job is lead the service and grow it with the help of the Director and without carrying every task in it yourself.
What you'll be responsible for
- CQC compliance, quality assurance and safeguarding
- Care planning, risk management, audits and improvement plans
- Complaints and incident management
- Leading, supervising and holding the staff team to account
- Client and service-user outcomes
- Commissioner, local authority and professional relationships
- Growing weekly care hours, referrals and private-client packages
- Local networking, community visibility and tender readiness
- Building a positive, accountable, high-performing culture
What success looks like
Within your first 90 days, you'll have completed a full audit of the service, delivered an initial improvement plan, met your team and key stakeholders, and started building the commissioner and community relationships that drive growth. Beyond that, success means measurable movement on quality, culture and care hours and a credible path towards an Outstanding CQC rating.
Who we're looking for
An energetic, commercially aware, values-led leader someone who wants to build something over the next year and beyond, not just take the next available role. You could be a Registered Manager already, or a strong deputy or service manager ready for the step up.
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in domiciliary or care home
- NVQ/QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or higher)
- Demonstrable track record of growing or improving a care service
- Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations and the Single Assessment Framework
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Franchise or multi-branch domiciliary care background
- RGN, RNLD, or RMN registered with the NMC
- Experience with NHS Discharge to Assess pathways
- Genuine leadership skills — comfortable holding a team to account
- High standard of customer/service-user focus
- IT skills, and curiosity about using technology to improve efficiency
- Willingness to continuously learn and innovate
Highly desirable (training provided where needed)
- Registered Manager or senior service-management experience in domiciliary/home care
- Evidence of personally improving a CQC-regulated service
- Business development, sales or marketing experience
- Experience building commissioner or local authority relationships
Salary and progression
£50,000 starting salary, with progression towards £55,000 within 12 months based on clearly defined performance indicators, plus the potential for performance-related incentives. Full detail shared with shortlisted candidates.
Why join us now?
Because the shape of this role over the next 12 months is still being written and you'd be the one writing it. You'll join during a period of genuine transformation, with the backing and access to make decisions, build your own team, and leave a measurable mark on both quality and growth.
