Buckingham Futures are supporting a local authority client in Essex with the recruitment of an Environmental Protection Officer / Technical Officer to join their Environmental Protection and Pollution Control team. These roles offer the opportunity to work on a range of pollution and environmental protection matters, helping to safeguard public health and protect the local environment. The successful candidates will undertake duties in supporting the Environmental Protection service with investigations, inspections, and regulatory work across the district. The role involves working across the district, with officers typically spending three days per week undertaking site visits. Administrative duties can be undertaken remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigating environmental pollution complaints, including noise, smoke, odour, dust, and other statutory nuisances.
- Undertaking site inspections and monitoring activities relating to pollution control.
- Supporting environmental protection casework and enforcement activity where required.
- Responding to service requests from residents and businesses.
- Collecting and recording evidence as part of environmental investigations.
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting case management processes.
