Buckingham Futures is delighted to be working with a local authority in the East of England to recruit an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer for an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a Technical Officer or Environmental Health Officer with strong housing enforcement or licensing experience to step into a hands‑on role within a proactive Private Sector Housing Team.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for delivering inspection and enforcement activity across the private rented sector, helping to improve housing standards and ensure resident safety. The role requires on‑site working 4 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspecting residential and multi‑occupied properties
- Applying the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- Undertaking enforcement action under the Housing Act 2004
- Assessing fire safety compliance
- Managing your own caseload effectively
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive knowledge of HHSRS (qualification essential)
- Broad working knowledge of the Housing Act 2004
- Experience inspecting residential properties and HMOs
- Confidence with housing enforcement and regulatory work
Contract Details
- Rate: £45.00 – £50.00 per hour (Umbrella)
- Contract: Temporary, 6 months initially
- Hours: Full‑time preferred (strong part‑time candidates considered)
