We are partnering with a growing consultancy that works closely with restaurants, takeaways and hospitality operators to raise standards in food safety, hygiene and health & safety compliance. With increasing demand from clients across the sector, we are looking to engage experienced Environmental Health and Food Safety professionals on a freelance basis to deliver audits, consultancy and training. This is a great opportunity for professionals who enjoy flexible, hands-on work and want to make a real impact within the hospitality industry.
What You Will Be Doing
- Working directly with hospitality businesses to improve standards, build confidence and ensure compliance.
- Carrying out food hygiene and health & safety audits across restaurants, takeaways, dark kitchens and cafés.
- Providing clear, practical and commercially realistic advice to improve compliance with UK legislation and best practice.
- Delivering engaging food safety and health & safety training including Level 2 and Level 3 Food Hygiene and HACCP awareness.
- Supporting businesses in preparing for Local Authority inspections including EHO visits.
- Assisting with key documentation including HACCP systems, risk assessments and Safer Food Better Business packs.
- Identifying gaps and producing clear, actionable recommendations.
- Building strong, trusted relationships with clients and acting as a credible advisor on site.
What We Are Looking For
- Professionals who bring both technical expertise and a practical, people focused approach.
- Experience in Environmental Health, Food Safety or a related discipline.
- Background as an Environmental Health Officer, Food Safety Consultant or Trainer.
- Strong understanding of UK food safety legislation and compliance frameworks.
- Experience delivering training; formal qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 3 or Level 4 Food Safety, HACCP or EHRB registration preferred.

This is a flexible freelance opportunity. We are keen to speak with consultants about day rates or hourly rates for consultancy and training delivery, availability including weekday, evening and weekend work, and types of assignments you prefer to take on.
