Our client in Greater London is currently recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer/Private Sector Housing Officer in the residential team to join a high-performing team on a 6-month extendable contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional to take on a varied and impactful caseload within private sector housing.
Key responsibilities:
- Investigating tenant complaints and carrying out property inspections
- Assessing properties against the HHSRS and Decent Homes Standard
- Preparing and serving enforcement notices where required
- Managing disrepair cases and producing schedules of condition
- Supporting HMO licensing, inspections, and compliance activity
- Identifying empty properties and supporting their return to use
- Working closely with partner agencies on housing renewal and improvement initiatives
Essential experience:
- Strong working knowledge of HHSRS and housing enforcement
- Knowledge and experience within one or more recognised specialist areas of environmental health (including private sector housing and licensing) and/or trading standards
- Understanding of housing standards and regulatory frameworks
- An appropriate qualification in Environmental Health and/or Housing Standards or equivalent
