Buckingham Futures is working in partnership with a local authority in South West England to recruit an experienced and qualified Environmental Health Officer / Private Sector Housing Officer for an interim assignment.

Working Pattern: Hybrid – minimum 2 to 3 days on-site per week.

This is a front‐line role supporting a busy and dedicated Private Sector Housing Team while the current post holder is on long‐term sick leave.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate complaints relating to damp and mould, disrepair and waste accumulation.
  • Enforce Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES).
  • Bring long‐term empty properties back into use.
  • Work with landlords and tenants to improve standards in the private rented sector.
  • (Desirable) Administer Disabled Facilities Grants.
  • (Desirable) Use Uniform software.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and experience in private sector housing enforcement.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast‐paced environment.
  • Excellent investigative, communication, and case management skills.
