Buckingham Futures is currently seeking a competent Environmental Health Officer or Food Safety Officer to support the delivery of Official Controls across food businesses within a local authority district in Yorkshire and the Humber. This is a flexible, rolling contract, ideal for professionals who can manage their own workload and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct food hygiene inspections across a range of premises, including:
  • New/unrated food business registrations
  • All risk categories of food premises
  • Complete inspection report forms and assign risk ratings in line with the Food Law Code of Practice.
  • Prepare and issue follow-up schedules of work where required.
  • Pay

    Up to £50 per hour (Umbrella), offering flexibility and fair remuneration based on time worked.

    Requirements

    • EHRB Registration or Higher Certificate in Food Control (or equivalent)
    • Proven experience delivering food hygiene inspections within local authorities
    • Ability to work independently and in line with regulatory standards
    • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
    • Confidence inspecting a variety of food premises across all risk categories

    Compliance / Evidence Required

    • Proof of competency
    • Minimum 10 hours of food-related CPD
    • Valid driving licence
