Buckingham Futures are currently seeking an experienced High‑Rise Inspection Officer to undertake inspections of residential high‑rise properties in Essex, with a particular focus on compliance under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). This role will involve assessing housing conditions, identifying category hazards, and ensuring residential buildings meet statutory housing and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections of high‑rise residential buildings in line with HHSRS requirements
- Identify and assess potential category 1 and category 2 hazards
- Investigate housing condition issues relating to damp and mould, fire safety, excess cold, structural safety, trip hazards, ventilation, overcrowding, and other housing risks
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and recommendations
- Liaise with landlords, housing providers, managing agents, and residents
- Support enforcement and compliance activity where necessary
- Maintain accurate records and ensure inspections are conducted in accordance with current housing legislation and guidance
Requirements
- Experience carrying out HHSRS inspections within residential housing environments
- Strong understanding of housing legislation and enforcement practices
- Background within Environmental Health, Private Sector Housing, Building Safety, or Property Compliance
- Excellent communication and report‑writing skills
- Ability to manage inspections independently across multiple sites
