Buckingham Futures has opportunities for Environmental Health Officers specializing in food safety to assist in delivering inspections for a local authority based in South London.

Immediate starts are available, with payment on a PPI (paid per inspection) basis.

Responsibilities include:

1. Carrying out inspections, re-inspections, and surveys; responsible for investigation, enforcement, and managing a more complex workload.
2. Preparing and serving Statutory Notices and taking enforcement actions in line with the Council’s strategy and departmental policies.
3. Reporting and advising when statutory actions are not appropriate, and initiating prosecutions for non-compliance with statutory instruments where necessary.
4. Consulting and negotiating with developers, landlords, contractors, businesses, and other clients to ensure casework progress.
5. Carrying out site visits, surveys, inspections, and attending Public Inquiries, courts, and tribunals.
6. Preparing priced specifications, providing advice, and reviewing legal notices drafted by junior colleagues.
7. Demonstrating good observational and investigative skills; ability to conduct inspections outside normal working hours if needed.
