Buckingham Futures are seeking an experienced Director of Public Health to lead and shape public health strategy across West London. This is a senior, high-impact role offering a day rate of £850.
Role Overview:
The Director of Public Health is a statutory Chief Officer of the authority and a visible system leader responsible for improving health and wellbeing, reducing inequalities, and protecting communities from public health hazards. You will act as the principal advisor on health matters to elected members, officers, and partners, influencing health improvement, protection, and healthcare public health initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and strategic direction for public health across West London.

Advise the Council, system partners, and local communities on health and wellbeing priorities.

Ensure the effectiveness of health protection systems and oversee emergency response planning.

Commission and oversee public health services that are value for money and meet quality standards.

Lead the production of an annual independent report on population health and inequalities.

Drive collaborative working across multiple agencies to improve health outcomes and address disparities.
Requirements:

Extensive experience in senior public health leadership roles.

Proven ability to influence policy and deliver population health improvement.

Expertise in health protection, healthcare public health, and health improvement interventions.

Strong leadership, people management, and strategic planning skills.
This is a full-time, 36 hours/week contract role with direct impact on public health outcomes across West London.
