Buckingham Futures is working with a local authority client in the Midlands who is looking to appoint an experienced Environmental Health Officer or Higher Certificate Technical Officer to support their food safety inspection programme, with a planned start date of January 2026. The position is offered on a contractual, hourly basis, with flexibility for those who may prefer to work on a per-inspection basis, allowing the workload to fit around your availability.

Key Duties:

  • Carry out food hygiene inspections in accordance with the FSA Food Law Code of Practice
  • Complete inspection documentation and accurately risk-rate food premises
  • Allocate Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) scores where appropriate
  • Review food business registrations and provide support with registration processes when required

Essential Criteria:

  • A recognised qualification: Higher Certificate in Food Control or an Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) Certificate/Diploma
  • Proven competency in Food Establishment Inspections (Cluster 4)
  • A minimum of 10 hours Food Core CPD, in line with the current Food Law Code of Practice and Practice Guidance
  • All relevant qualifications and CPD evidence must be provided to Buckingham Futures prior to commencement
