Overview
Buckingham Futures is recruiting for Environmental Health Officers to support our Local Authority client in the East Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced professionals to carry out food hygiene and safety inspections on a pay-per-inspection basis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed food hygiene and safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments in line with FSA codes of practice.
- Deliver clear improvements in standards through advice, instruction, and written correspondence.
- Complete approximately 250 inspections (covering new businesses and D category premises).
- Submit inspection proformas and draft electronic reports detailing contraventions, recommendations, and compliance dates within 7 days of inspection.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health
- Certificate of Registration with EHRB (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in food safety interventions and enforcement
- Strong knowledge of Hazard Analysis, risk assessment, and food safety management systems
- IT competent – Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible to work outside office hours and travel across the borough
