Our client in Essex is recruiting for an Environmental Protection Officer to start as soon as possible.

Working as part of the Environmental Protection Team, you’ll be on the frontline — engaging with the public, investigating statutory nuisances, and handling a wide range of pollution-related enquiries.

Main Duties:

  • Carry out the full range of professional Environmental Health duties within Environmental Protection.
  • Investigate complaints relating to statutory nuisances and pollution (from business, domestic, and entertainment sources), identify causes, recommend solutions, and take legal action where necessary.
  • Conduct environmental surveys of residential and commercial premises, prepare detailed reports, and take appropriate action to resolve nuisances or regulatory breaches.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health or a related field.
  • Relevant qualifications in Acoustics & Noise Control (advantageous).
  • Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience in a similar local government role.
  • Recent experience investigating statutory nuisances, pest control issues, filthy & verminous premises, anti-social behaviour, and environmental crime.
  • Strong knowledge across all areas of Environmental Protection and Pollution Control.
  • Proficient IT skills, including experience with Environmental Health management software (e.g., Flare).
