Buckingham Futures have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer/Environmental Protection Officer to join a local authority in Sussex. This role is to start ASAP on an initial 3-months contract, with a strong potential for extension.
We’re keen to hear from professionals with experience in Environmental Protection, Food Safety or ideally both. If you have a strong interest in either area, the client is open to considering splitting the role accordingly.
Key Areas of Work/Responsibilities:
Environmental Protection
- Working in a multidisciplinary team covering air quality, land contamination, permitting, and acoustics
- Responding to noise and nuisance complaints from commercial and industrial sources
- Reviewing contamination reports, commenting on planning applications, and providing pollution control advice
Food Safety
- Inspecting low-risk food businesses (Categories C and E)
- Conducting food hygiene and food standards inspections
- Managing related enforcement activities
- A minimum of 2 years post-qualification food safety experience is required
Requirements:
- Degree, Diploma, or MSc in Environmental Health
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
- Strong communication, organisation, and the ability to work independently
