Environmental Health Officers – Food Safety

Location: North London

Hours: Flexible hours – Per Inspection

Buckingham Futures have opportunities for an Environmental Health Officer specialising in food safety to assist in delivering inspections for a local authority based in North London.

Immediate starts available and will be paid on a PPI (paid per inspection) basis.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Carrying out inspections, re-inspections and surveys and be responsible for the investigation, enforcement and manage a more complex workload.
  2. Prepare and serve Statutory Notices and take enforcement action in-line with the Council’s strategy and departmental enforcement policies.
  3. Report and/or advise where statutory actions are not appropriate and to initiate prosecutions for failure to comply with statutory instruments where appropriate.
  4. Consult/negotiate with developers, landlords, contractors, business and other clients as appropriate to ensure progress of casework.
  5. Carry out site visits, surveys, inspections and to attend Public Inquiries, courts of law and tribunals.
  6. Prepare priced specifications, give advice and check legal notices drafted by more junior colleagues.

You will have good observational and investigation skills; and the ability to carry out inspections, at times outside normal core working hours.

Minimum Requirements:

Must have up to date food safety competencies in place to work in this post.
