With the option for remote work, we have expanded our global footprint, building a diverse and multicultural team making a real impact.

Role summary
You already know how the London Market really works. This is a role where you get to shape the systems it runs on.

As Head of Product Delivery at Buckhill, you will lead our Client Product Owner team and own how our products serve the Lloyd’s and wider London Market.

This role is deliberately built for someone who knows the market from the inside. If you have spent your career in underwriting operations, market operations or a comparable function within a managing agent, syndicate, broker, MGA or market service provider, you will recognise most of what our products are trying to solve: manual workflows, fragmented data, and processes that work because experienced people work around them. We want that operational knowledge at the centre of our product function rather than at the edge of it.

You do not need a long formal product management career behind you. You do need a working understanding of how product teams operate, genuine interest in doing that work well, and the appetite to build your knowledge of C2MS to complement your London Market knowledge. Market knowledge is the harder thing to teach quickly, which is why we are hiring for it directly.

The market’s modernisation agenda has also changed shape. The ambition to replace everything at once has given way to incremental modernisation, longer parallel running between old and new systems, and a sharper focus on operational resilience and data standards. Meanwhile the underlying problems have not gone anywhere: manual workflows, fragmented data, and legacy processes that hold the market back. That is the environment our products operate in, and it is why we want someone who has lived it leading our product delivery function rather than advising it from the sidelines.

In this role you will define and own the product delivery vision for C2MS, lead and develop our Client Product Owner team, and act as the senior product voice in front of our clients. Buckhill is on an exciting trajectory, transitioning from a bespoke InsurTech software development company towards a more product-focused organisation, and this role is central to that shift.

This role sits within the Product Management & Delivery function and reports to Buckhill’s Chief Operating Officer. You will hold line management responsibility for Buckhill’s Client Product Owner team, and you will work as part of a cross-functional structure designed to drive consistent product excellence across our portfolio.

This role is based in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate must be located in the UK and have the right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.

If you have spent years knowing exactly why a process is broken and never being the person who could change it, this is the role where you can.

Requirements

Essential

  • Substantial experience within the Lloyd’s of London or wider London Market, gained in underwriting operations, market operations, delivery, change or a comparable function within a managing agent, broker, MGA or market service provider.
  • Detailed working knowledge of London Market processes, including placement, policy administration, premium processing, delegated authority and coverholder operations, claims, and the regulatory environment specific to Lloyd’s.
  • Working knowledge of Agile delivery and the Product Owner role, whether gained as a practitioner, as a senior business stakeholder to a product or change team, or through formal training.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, managing or developing others, whether through formal line management or leading a team through a significant change programme.
  • A track record of translating operational problems into system or process improvements, rather than working around them.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the credibility to hold a senior client conversation on market matters.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision making, and strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with AI tools and a proactive attitude towards embedding them into working practice.
  • Located in the UK with the right to work in the UK, and willing to travel occasionally to meet clients and stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in a formal Product Owner or Product Manager role.
  • Product certifications such as PSPO or equivalent.
  • CII qualifications, particularly LM1 or LM2, or progress towards them.
  • Experience of insurance technology implementation, data migration or vendor-side delivery.
  • Broader InsurTech or FinTech background.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or a relevant postgraduate qualification.

How we will support you
We are recruiting deliberately for London Market expertise, and we recognise that the strongest market candidates may not have spent their careers in formal product roles. We will invest in closing that gap.

  • A structured product craft development plan agreed within your first month, with formal training and external coaching where useful.
  • Funded CII pathway support, including LM1 and LM2 where relevant.
  • Access to experienced product and delivery colleagues who know our products in depth, alongside dedicated time for your own development rather than development squeezed around delivery.
  • A defined review cadence in your first twelve months so that progress, support and expectations remain explicit on both sides.
