We currently have the opportunity for another 'Someone Special' to join our small and versatile Visitor Experience team!
Responsibilities
- Be warm and welcoming with a permanent smile.
- Have a proactive, positive and highly flexible attitude; enjoy meeting people and relate well to all backgrounds and ages.
- Be patient, empathic and calm; able to deescalate unwelcome behaviour when needed.
- Take in-the-moment responsibility for security, evacuation, first aid, mental health support and safeguarding.
- Be robust and able to deal with the unexpected and weather all weathers (we are open all year round).
- Learn about and promote our site — its history, architecture, art, grounds, hospitality, music and retail offerings — answering visitor questions and delivering engaging guided tours of the Abbey church.
- Have experience of serving customers in a retail environment and processing payments.
- Enjoy variety and staying active; work involves greeting coach parties, welcoming visitors to the Abbey church and Monastic Way exhibition, cleaning in the church, preparing for religious services, ushering for concerts, litter picking in the car park and serving in the gift shop.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in customer service is essential; extensive experience in a similar setting is an advantage.
- Full training, including first aid certification, will be provided; existing qualification is desirable.
- Experience with, or an interest in learning to use, equipment and technology for occasional live streaming of services would be advantageous.
