Buckden Partners has been mandated by a leading Bridging Finance lender who are searching for experienced Underwriting Manager to oversee all regulated and unregulated bridge loan underwriting activity for the business, supporting the current growth and future development plans.
You will initially have 6 direct underwriting reports and the Case Management Manager who has a team of 3.
Reporting into the Head of Credit, your responsibilities will cover:
- Management of underwriting team to ensure delivery of business objectives in an efficient manner. To include regular coaching and feedback sessions, objective and target setting, driving efficiency and consistency across the team
- Development and implementation of underwriting processes
- Ensuring all underwriting is completed in a competent and compliant manner
- Ensure all underwriting decisioning is carried out in accordance with the company’s credit risk appetite
- Reviewing and assessing each case to ensure risks presented have been appropriately assessed and mitigated (where required)
- Examine the commercial viability of each application
- Oversee the underwriting of all loans up to disbursement
- Undertake review of all applications, including, credit reports, assessing wealth, valuation, insurance and ROT
- Undertake final check of checklist, rationales and AML form
- Support drive towards automation and building a business for scale.
- Responsible for final credit sign-off of each application

- Proven decision maker
- Advance knowledge of underwriting both regulated and unregulated bridging/ mortgages transactions.
- In depth knowledge of MCOB and all other relevant regulatory obligations
- Previous experience of managing/mentoring and leading a specialist underwriting team
- Excellent understanding of credit
- Experienced in communicating with brokers and customers
