Our client, a leading global financial institution, is looking for a talented Junior Subsidiary Banker to join their Japanese Corporate Banking team in London. This front-office role focuses on managing relationships with Japanese corporate clients in the UK and EMEA region. The successful candidate will support senior Relationship Managers, drive business development, and play a key role in executing strategic initiatives. Experience working with corporate subsidiaries is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, including subsidiaries of large Japanese corporates, to achieve commercial and risk objectives.
  • Support senior Relationship Managers in credit analysis, business origination, and client strategy.
  • Collaborate with product partners to deliver tailored financial solutions.
  • Monitor and manage market, credit, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and share insights across international teams.
  • Prepare high-quality credit assessments, reports, and portfolio monitoring.

Experience

  • Front-office experience in corporate banking.
  • Experience in managing subsidiaries or corporate groups is required.
  • Experience in credit assessment for medium to large corporates.
  • Exposure to working in a multicultural, international environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance, strategic planning, and financial products.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and reporting skills.
  • Business-level fluency in Japanese (written and verbal) - highly desirable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
