As a Credit Risk Manager within the Real Estate Finance team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Bank’s strategic growth while maintaining robust credit discipline. Acting as part of the second line of defence, you will assess, recommend, and influence decisions on Real Estate Finance transactions across both development and investment sectors. You will provide expert credit insight, ensure governance adherence, and contribute to continuous improvement of risk frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Credit Assessment & Decisioning: Assess and provide guidance on new lending proposals, including restructuring suggestions, and support decision-making through Credit Committee approval processes. Maintain a balanced approach to new business growth, ensuring strong credit standards and appropriate provisioning.
- Risk Strategy & Governance: Support senior management in evolving risk structures, governance frameworks and operational processes to improve alignment and consistency across Real Estate Finance. Provide expert input into new product development, acquisitions and new ventures, ensuring compliance and commercial viability.
- Regulatory & Portfolio Oversight: Keep up to date with regulatory changes and assess their short-, medium- and long-term impacts on the business, ensuring the Bank is well-placed for proactive adaptation. Maintain accurate records to support production of high-quality Management Information in line with ExCo expectations. Ensure all procedures are adhered to for internal and external audit outcomes at a satisfactory or higher standard.
- Risk Model Development: Contribute to the development and embedding of a Risk Pricing Model across the Real Estate Finance and Business & Commercial divisions.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Foster a strong “one team” approach across Real Estate Finance, working closely with Relationship Directors and senior stakeholders. Provide constructive challenge where appropriate while maintaining strong working relationships.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a Real Estate credit, in property investment. Development finance is an advantage.
- Strong technical understanding of Real Estate finance products.
- In-depth knowledge of the UK real estate market.
- Degree-level education or the ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of professional experience.
