My client is an established Challenger Bank that has a successful Development Finance team. They are building out the Midlands region and are therefore recruiting for an experienced Portfolio Manager to join their growing team. Support the Business Development Manager (BDM); Senior BDM (SBDM); Business Development Director (BDD) (together your “Line Manager”) in the ongoing management of their portfolio of loans to property developer and investor clients. Take responsibility for pro-actively managing accounts and key relationships with clients and professionals demonstrating initiative and an ability to suggest solutions to any issues that may arise. Ensure that accounts are always fully compliant with the bank’s Credit and Risk policies and procedures and all data and records are kept up to date and current on the bank’s systems. Support your Line Manager with all business development, marketing and networking activity as required and promotion of the Property Finance ‘brand’. Undertake due diligence on newly approved loan facilities ensuring that all lending requirements are met and that all credit controls and procedures are properly adhered to. Maintain customer account records in the Lending System in order that the integrity of the Bank's accounting records and data is maintained, liaising with the Credit, Finance and Operation teams as appropriate. Assist the Line Manager with the preparation of Credit Committee papers and attend Credit Committee in conjunction with the Line Manager to seek approval for new loan facilities, renewals, and amendments to the portfolio and present the papers to Committee when required. Prepare and issue Facility, Amendment and Renewal Letters and follow up thereafter. Instruct the bank's professional advisors (solicitors, valuers and monitoring surveyors) and thereafter ensure that their reports are received promptly and address all the relevant issues (as set out in the formal instructions) and are generally of a quality which meets the bank's desired standards. This to include raising questions and seeking additional information and escalating through Credit Control and Risk as necessary. Assess in conjunction with the Line Manager, the valuation and quantity surveyors reports to ensure that the quality of the security and viability of a project (where appropriate) meets the bank's requirements. Prepare payments for authorisation at the completion of new facilities or for stage and interim payments, ensuring that the approved lending parameters and any special requirements have been addressed or ‘signed off’ by the appropriate people. Monitor the portfolio and keep loan renewals and Annual Credit Reviews up to date. Attend suitable functions and read relevant trade and financial press to develop a good understanding of the industry and the wider economy and build a base of appropriate business contacts as well as raise the profile of the Property Finance Division. Good understanding of all basic Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Basic experience within a property lending environment, or a financial reporting, back office or administrative role, with commercial awareness and genuine interest in the Banking and Property Finance industries.
