My client are a leading construction consultancy in East Sussex providing cost management, strategic planning/advice, project management for retail and other commercial/office refurbishments. They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of new build, refurbishment schemes
  • Agreement of proposed contractors costs, & management of orders and payments
  • Provide other bespoke surveys, cost assessments, valuations and reports.

The role may not be limited to supporting only this client, but others where required to support the wider business – so a flexible approach is required.

Criteria:

  • Surveyor – working towards or already RICS qualified
  • Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience
  • Willing to work in a small organisation
  • Experience of working on projects £1 to £20 million in value

Ideally you will have experience with:

  • Ability and experience in managing fast-track projects
  • Experience in cost management of minor refurbishment projects
  • Previous residential experience
  • Experience of client facing work

Personal attributes also required are:

  • Client skills – the ability to manage client expectations and challenges while retaining positive relationships; the ability to flex style to that of different clients
  • Diligence and drive – the ability to drive projects forward by efficient tracking of project stages, taking responsibility to ensure delivery to time
  • Commercial – understanding business finance and how to manage client budgets; ensuring own work is profitable
  • Team orientation – willingness to work in a close team, stepping in to assist and help whenever needed
  • Pragmatism – the ability to make sensible decisions quickly, adjust to changing requirements
  • Confidence – the ability to take an active role in client meetings and input to meetings and decisions; sometimes requiring challenging client requests or decisions
