Overview

An elite US law firm is seeking an exceptional restructuring lawyer to join its London practice at Counsel or Of Counsel level.

This is a selective senior hire into a lean, partner-led team handling complex, high-value restructuring and distressed matters.

The successful candidate will assume meaningful responsibility from the outset, combining first-rate technical ability with commercialjudgement, leadership skills and the confidence to operate autonomously.

Established Senior Associates with at least eight years’ PQE who are ready to progress to Counsel may be considered, alongside existing Counsel, Of Counsel and non-equity partners seeking the right long-term platform.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Lead substantial workstreams on sophisticated restructuring and distressed mandates.
  • Advise on restructurings, insolvency matters, leveraged finance and special situations.
  • Take day-to-day responsibility for complex transactions and client relationships.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary and cross-border teams.
  • Work closely with partners on strategy, execution and risk management.
  • Supervise and develop associates at different levels of seniority.
  • Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the practice.
  • Build trusted relationships with financial institutions, investors, sponsors and corporate clients.

About You

  • England and Wales qualified, typically with at least eight years’ PQE.
  • Currently practising as a senior associate, Counsel, Of Counsel or non-equity partner.
  • First-class restructuring credentials, ideally complemented by insolvency or leveraged finance experience.
  • Training and experience gained within a Magic Circle or elite US law firm.
  • Strong academics from a leading institution.
  • Proven ability to lead complex workstreams with limited supervision.
  • Experience managing junior lawyers and coordinating wider matter teams.
  • Commercially minded, technically rigorous and genuinely interested in distressed and special-situations work.
  • Able to integrate quickly into a close-knit, high-performing practice.
