A growing London Restructuring & Insolvency team is looking for a Senior Associate to join at a genuinely exciting time following a recent strategic merger that has created a true transatlantic platform, opening up access to both UK and US markets, larger clients, and higher-profile mandates.
This is a role for someone ready to lead from day one. The team operates with a lean structure and a strong pipeline of work, meaning the successful candidate will take on significant responsibility immediately, working closely with partners across complex, high-profile domestic and cross-border matters.
About the team:
- A close-knit group of 3 partners, 2 senior associates and 2 associates
- Led by a highly experienced restructuring and insolvency partner with a broad practice spanning lenders, private equity sponsors, directors, landlords, distressed investors and insolvency practitioners, with particular strength in the consumer and retail sectors
- Mix of contentious and non-contentious work across sophisticated domestic and cross-border mandates
- Active involvement in cross-practice collaboration and business development as the team continues to expand
- Now benefiting from a significantly larger international platform and client base following the firm's transatlantic merger
What they're looking for:
- 5β7PQE (strict range) a genuine Senior Associate able to lead transactions with minimal supervision from day one, not someone approaching Senior Counsel level
- London restructuring and insolvency experience strongly preferred
- No firm preference open to candidates from a broad range of practices provided the technical experience is right
- In-house candidates considered, provided restructuring and insolvency experience has been maintained at the right level
- Strong technical grounding across restructuring and insolvency law, financial documentation and corporate structures
- Experience advising boards on financial distress, directors' duties, restructuring options and contingency planning
- Confident leading distressed M&A transactions, including coordinating cross-border elements
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across enforcement documents, security reviews, administration sale agreements and court applications
- Commercially minded, an excellent communicator, and comfortable managing multiple matters at pace
- Enthusiastic about contributing to business development and the continued growth of the practice
Hours & Pay:
- Hybrid working: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home
- Billable hours target: 1,650 annually
- Salary in the region of Β£130,000βΒ£145,000 (compensation structures are still settling following the firm's recent merger)
Process:
A three-stage process: an initial conversation with the hiring partner, a more technical discussion with senior members of the team, and a final informal meeting with the wider associate team to get a feel for the culture and day-to-day working environment.
If you're a restructuring and insolvency lawyer ready to lead transactions independently, take on real responsibility, and join a team riding the momentum of a major transatlantic platform expansion, we'd love to hear from you.
