Job Description

Structured Finance Associate (3+ PQE)

A truly exceptional opportunity has arisen for a talented Structured Finance Associate (3+ PQE) to join the London office of a top-tier international law firm renowned for its market-leading structured finance and securitisation practice.

This is a team consistently recognised among the best in the City for its depth of expertise, breadth of work, and ability to execute complex, cross-border transactions with precision and creativity. The practice works with an enviable client roster, including global investment banks, private credit funds, asset managers, and leading financial institutions. Their lawyers are involved in many of the most sophisticated structured finance transactions in the European market, and the group continues to expand due to strong deal flow and client demand.

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to join a small, high-performing team that punches far above its size in terms of deal complexity and client base. Associates work directly alongside globally recognised partners, gaining hands-on exposure to both the legal and commercial aspects of structured finance transactions.

The role offers the chance to advise on:

  • Complex, multi-jurisdictional securitisation and structured finance transactions, including RMBS, CMBS, CLOs, and trade receivables deals
  • Warehouse financing arrangements, note issuances, and structured product transactions
  • The financing and restructuring of non-performing loan portfolios and alternative credit structures
  • A variety of transactions for banks, funds, corporates, and financial sponsors
  • Cross-office projects with teams in New York, continental Europe, and Asia

Because of the team’s lean structure, associates are entrusted with real responsibility early on. You’ll work closely with partners on deal strategy and execution, engage directly with clients, and play a pivotal role in delivering transactions that shape the market.

This is the perfect environment for lawyers who want to combine technical excellence with commercial impact and who value being part of a team where their contributions are recognised and their career development is taken seriously.

The firm is open-minded on background but is particularly interested in ambitious, technically strong lawyers who can demonstrate:

  • 3+ years’ PQE in structured finance, securitisation, capital markets, or a related area (more senior candidates encouraged to apply)
  • Solid experience with transactional finance — whether in structured finance, DCM, leveraged finance, or structured lending
  • A strong understanding of the legal and commercial drivers underpinning finance transactions
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
  • A collaborative, proactive attitude and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders and clients directly

The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, detail-oriented, and intellectually curious, with a genuine enthusiasm for structured finance and an interest in working on some of the most high-profile deals in the market.

This firm offers a rare blend of US-firm quality work and compensation with a London-driven culture that prioritises collaboration, growth, and sustainability.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Exposure to headline-making, multi-billion-pound transactions across Europe and beyond
  • Working in a tight-knit, partner-led team where your contributions matter and are visible
  • Direct mentorship from some of the industry’s most highly regarded practitioners
  • A genuine balance between responsibility and support, with opportunities to lead deals as you grow
  • A firm-wide commitment to career development and progression, with structured feedback and clear promotion pathways
  • A collegiate, approachable culture that encourages initiative and long-term career building

The partners in this group are known for being hands-on, approachable, and invested in their associates’ growth combining exacting standards with a genuine interest in developing the next generation of leaders.

Key Details

  • PQE: 3+ years (flexible for exceptional candidates)
  • Salary: Starting at £145,000, with competitive bonus structure tied to performance
  • Billable hours: 1,750 hours per year a strong balance between quality and sustainability
  • Hybrid working: Typically 3–4 days in the office, depending on candidate and workload
  • Location: London, with opportunities for cross-border work and client secondments

For ambitious associates looking to take the next step in their structured finance career, this opportunity offers:

  • World-class training and exposure to some of the most sophisticated transactions in the market
  • A clear and achievable career trajectory, with the ability to build your profile and client relationships quickly
  • A firm culture that values excellence, integrity, and individuality, rather than hierarchy or red tape
  • The chance to join a growing London team that combines top-tier international work with a human, supportive approach

This is a rare chance to join a globally respected structured finance practice where you’ll gain exceptional experience, client exposure, and a genuine opportunity to grow into a trusted adviser and future leader in the field.
