The Opportunity
A prestigious international law firm is seeking an ambitious and commercially astute Associate or Senior Associate (2–8 PQE) to join its top-tier Project Finance team in London. This is an exceptional opportunity to be involved in landmark energy and infrastructure transactions across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and beyond. The successful candidate will advise on high-value, often first-of-their-kind projects spanning renewables, power, oil & gas, telecoms, and transport, with a growing emphasis on sustainable and green finance. You’ll work within a high-performing, supportive team, collaborating across jurisdictions and with some of the most prominent lenders, sponsors, and development institutions in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting for lenders (including DFIs, ECAs, and commercial banks) and sponsors on complex cross-border project finance matters.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating key finance and project documents such as loan agreements, common terms agreements, intercreditor deeds, and security packages.
- Supporting transactions from initial structuring and term sheet stage through to financial close and post-completion.
- Managing workstreams, supervising junior lawyers, and contributing to knowledge sharing within the team (for more senior candidates).
- Collaborating with colleagues in international offices and contributing to client development efforts.
Candidate Profile
You will be a qualified lawyer (England & Wales or equivalent jurisdiction) with 2–8 years of post-qualification experience, gained in the project finance or wider banking & finance space, ideally at a well-regarded international, City, or top-tier boutique law firm. You will bring:
- Strong experience in project finance, ideally in infrastructure or energy sectors.
- Exposure to international or emerging markets transactions (particularly Africa, the Middle East or Eastern Europe) is a plus.
- A solid foundation in finance documentation and a clear understanding of complex financing structures.
- A proactive, commercial mindset and confidence handling client relationships.
- Excellent drafting and communication skills.
- A team player mentality with enthusiasm for mentoring and growing within a collaborative environment.
