We are working on an exclusive basis with one of London's most established and internationally recognised real estate practices to identify a commercially minded associate at the 3–5 PQE level. This is an urgent hire and we are actively seeking strong CVs immediately.
This is one of the largest and most highly regarded real estate groups at any international law firm in the City, with a substantial partner group across London. The practice sits within what leading legal directories consistently recognise as one of the most active commercial real estate platforms in the market carrying deep expertise across development, investment, corporate occupier work, logistics, hotels, build-to-rent, senior living, real estate finance, and large-scale portfolio management.
The team is led by highly experienced partners spanning a broad range of real estate disciplines, including complex corporate real estate mandates for private equity houses and real estate funds, transactional real estate focused on asset management and logistics, hospitality and structured investment work, and advising international clients on UK property investments.
The practice works with a compelling mix of household-name clients on long-term advisory relationships, including major UK retailers, large estate-heavy corporates, and institutional investors. Recent headline instructions include high-profile head office relocations, flagship department store redevelopments, and complex energy transition advisory including EV charging infrastructure rollout across large UK property portfolios giving a clear sense of both the breadth and the calibre of the work.
The platform itself is a genuine differentiator. This firm operates the largest real estate practice of any international law firm globally, with over 450 lawyers across Europe alone spanning 32 offices in major financial hubs and gateway cities. The London team benefits from a consistent flow of international and cross-border instructions driven through the wider global network exposure that is simply not available at most peer firms.
The London team operates with an associate-light structure relative to its partner base and workload, which creates faster visibility, earlier responsibility, and more direct partner access than candidates would typically encounter elsewhere. Strong performers can progress quickly, and for those who are commercially minded and proactive about business development, there is a clear and well-supported pathway toward senior associate level and, in time, partnership.
Clients consistently praise the team for combining deep technical expertise with genuine commerciality, responsiveness, and high-quality output delivered at pace. The culture is genuinely collaborative and close-knit; partners are accessible, the environment is relationship-driven rather than hierarchical, and the team invests in developing its people over the long term. The firm operates active internal networks across a range of employee communities and runs a varied programme of social and cultural events throughout the year. Flexible working is supported, with no rigid presenteeism culture. The billable target is 1,500 hours, with a bonus structure that increments from that threshold.
This is a selective search targeting quality over volume. The ideal candidate will be 3–5 PQE (ideally 4–5 PQE) from a Magic Circle, Silver Circle, or top international firm of equivalent calibre. Beyond the technical profile, the team is clear that they want someone who is career-focused and commercially ambitious, not purely hours-driven. The successful candidate will have a genuine desire to build a long-term practice, engage actively in BD, develop client relationships early, and grow into a senior role over time. This is not a role for someone looking to come in, deliver their hours, and leave.
You should be able to demonstrate strong transactional real estate experience, a solid academic background, and the commerciality and interpersonal skills to thrive in a lean, high-performing team with genuine partner access from day one. In-house candidates and those from strong national or regional real estate practices are not being considered for this particular London role.
This is a live and urgent requirement we are building comparison sets now and working to a fast timeline. If you are a commercially minded real estate associate from a top-tier practice and would welcome a confidential conversation, please get in touch directly.
