I’m partnering with a leading digital consultancy searching for a Technical Test Engineer who can operate confidently in a complex microservices environment and take full ownership of end-to-end testing across backend services and UI layers. If you’re someone who doesn’t just “run tests” but shapes the testing strategy, pushes quality upstream, and is comfortable triggering AWS events to drive real test conditions.

What you’ll do

  • Own manual test case creation, execution, and regression across sprints
  • Test backend microservices + front-end UI against user story criteria
  • Trigger services/events through AWS (ECS, Lambda, SQS/SNS) to set up test conditions
  • Execute accessibility testing (Axe or similar)
  • Conduct structured exploratory testing
  • Log, track, and drive defects through to resolution
  • Work closely with developers, BAs, and the wider scrum team
  • Contribute to sprint planning, estimation and risk analysis

What you must bring

  • 3+ years testing experience specifically in microservices-based web solutions
  • Proven experience testing backend microservices, APIs and UI layers
  • Strong API testing ability
  • Confident writing functional tests spanning UI, API and DB
  • SQL skills for data creation, manipulation and reconciliation
  • Experience with JIRA + Zephyr Enterprise
  • Strong communication, high ownership and a proactive testing mindset
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions and representing QA within the team
  • Solid experience working in Scrum environments

You’ll thrive here if you

  • Take initiative, work autonomously and enjoy having real ownership
  • Obsess over detail and quality
  • Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams
  • Are comfortable working with distributed/remote teams
  • Can operate to tight deadlines without losing quality

If you’re a Technical Test Engineer who wants to work on genuinely complex, scalable solutions and not just box‑ticking test work then I’d like to hear from you. This is an immediately available position, so if interested, hit the reply button right away!
