BTIG EMEA is seeking a Financial Accountant, Vice President to join our London Finance team and take ownership of key close and control activities that underpin accurate financial and regulatory reporting.

This hands‑on role spans journal preparation, balance sheet substantiation, and maintenance of core accounting schedules, working closely with Operations, Treasury, Risk and Compliance to ensure high-quality outputs in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting fundamentals with a controls mindset, is comfortable working to tight deadlines, and can partner proactively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely month‑end and FCA reporting requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries (including accruals, prepaids, allocations, intercompany, revenue and expense) and support daily controls to maintain general ledger integrity.
  • Own month-end/quarter-end close activities, including balance sheet substantiation and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Maintain core accounting schedules (e. g. fixed assets, leases, accruals, broker clearing balances, commissions/fees, intercompany) and support timely sign-off balances.
  • Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS and firm accounting policies.
  • Assist with variance analysis vs. prior period/budget and provide clear commentary for management reporting.
  • Assist with UK regulatory reporting deliverables, including FCA regulatory return submissions (Mi FIDPRU and other relevant reports).
  • Provide financial data and schedules supporting the firm’s ICARA process.
  • Prepare audit‑ready schedules and documentation and support external auditors for the annual statutory audit and, where applicable, CASS audit.
  • Use the firm’s accounting system and operational platforms (OMS/EMS, clearing and settlement reports) to reconcile accounts and analyse large, high-volume datasets.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Workday and Netsuite is desirable.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-4 years’ accounting and audit experience within financial services, ideally in an FCA-regulated broker‑dealer or Mi FID investment firm environment.
  • Newly qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent).
  • Exposure to MIFIDPRU/IFPR regulatory reporting, ICARA support and/or CASS processes (where applicable).
  • Control‑minded; escalates issues appropriately in a regulated environment.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced brokerage environment with time‑sensitive deliverables.
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive financial/regulatory information appropriately.
  • Must be authorised to work full time in the U. K., BTIG does not offer sponsorship for work visas of any type.
