We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing distribution business in Wellingborough who require an experienced Payroll professional to step into a key role within their finance function. This is not a supervisory or strategic position — it is a hands-on, detail-driven payroll processing role where accuracy and reliability are absolutely critical.

If you are someone who takes pride in getting payroll right first time and can confidently manage end-to-end processing, this could be an excellent opportunity.

The Role

  • Processing monthly payroll for 250–300 employees
  • Managing Sage Payroll alongside manual processes and external systems
  • Handling SSP, SMP, maternity, and agency hours accurately
  • Identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Supporting with labour and production KPI data input where required
  • Working closely with the Finance Manager for review and sign-off

There are some existing payroll errors that need careful attention, so this role requires someone methodical and confident in their knowledge.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong, recent experience using Sage Payroll (essential)
  • Experience processing payroll for 200+ employees
  • Excellent attention to detail and low error track record
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Confident Excel user
  • Able to retain information quickly and work independently
  • Experience within distribution, manufacturing or another operational environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
