Are you working in accountancy practice and looking for your first move into industry? We are recruiting on behalf of a successful, family‑owned business with a varied and hands‑on finance role based in Nottingham. The role sits within the dealership side of the wider group and would suit someone with strong accounts preparation experience, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to work independently.
You do not need previous industry experience, but you will need to be comfortable putting accounts together and dealing with month‑end adjustments such as accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
The role will include:
- Producing monthly management accounts for review.
- Preparing and reviewing month‑end journals.
- Dealing with accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
- Completing bank reconciliations.
- Preparing VAT returns.
- Managing accounts payable from end to end.
- Processing incoming invoices.
- Supporting cash flow reporting and aged debt analysis.
- Working closely with operational teams to resolve queries.
- Learning dealership‑specific reporting, including composite accounts.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working in an accountancy practice.
- Strong accounts preparation experience.
- Good knowledge of VAT, bank reconciliations and month‑end adjustments.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The confidence to work in a standalone finance role.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with non-finance colleagues.
- A proactive approach and the desire to build a long‑term career in industry.
- Experience with motor trade, automotive or owner‑managed business clients would be useful, but is not essential.
Why apply: This role offers a genuine route from practice into industry. You will move away from purely client‑facing practice work and take ownership of the finance function within a commercial business. You will join a family‑owned company where you can build strong internal relationships, develop your commercial finance experience and make the role your own. The position is broad, varied and offers far more exposure than a narrow transactional accounts role.
Benefits: Company pension, employee discount and 33 days holiday including bank holidays.
