This is not your typical Assistant Accountant role. If you want to move beyond transactional finance and get closer to how a business actually makes money, this role offers real exposure to costing, stock, and operational finance within a manufacturing environment. We are working with a well-established business that is strengthening its finance team and needs an Assistant Accountant who can add value quickly.
As an Assistant Accountant, you will:
- Support month-end and management accounts
- Take ownership of inventory accounting and stock reconciliations
- Analyse obsolete and slow-moving stock
- Work closely with operations on costing and production data
- Support stock takes and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with variance analysis and standard costing
- Contribute to financial controls and reporting accuracy
- Support intercompany and commission calculations
This is a hands-on, factory-facing role, not a desk-only finance position.
What We’re Looking For (Essential)
- Experience in a manufacturing or stock-based environment
- Background in a finance role (Assistant Accountant / Accounts Assistant)
- Strong understanding of debits & credits and reconciliations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong Excel skills
Highly Desirable
- Experience with costing, inventory, or variance analysis
- Exposure to standard costing
- Experience with SAP or a similar ERP system
- Studying towards AAT / ACCA / CIMA
Why This Role?
- Genuine exposure to operational and manufacturing finance
- Opportunity to build highly valuable, in-demand skillsets (costing & stock)
- A role where you can take ownership early
- Strong foundation for progression into Management Accountant / Finance Business Partner roles
Things to Consider
This role suits someone who:
- Is comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Wants to learn quickly and take responsibility
